About the Pastor
Rev. Gwendolyn is a product of Gary Community School Corporation and retired from the corporation after thirty years of service. Rev. Sanders received her B.S. and Masters’ degree from Purdue University. She is a graduate of Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois where she received a Master of Divinity.
Rev. Sanders is on the Board of Examiners in the Indiana Conference . After answering her call to ministry, she was blessed with the opportunity to serve as an assistant minister at St. John A.M.E. Church in East Chicago, Indiana. Rev. Sanders served as pastor at Davis Memorial A.M.E. Church for fourteen years and came to St. Luke in the fall of 2018.
Her purpose is to “set in order that which remains” (Titus 1:5), a ministry of building; self-discovery and affirmation through healing and deliverance.
Her favorite scripture is Psalm 91 and the first two verses of that Psalm has been and continues to be the rock that anchors her, “I dwell in the secret place of the Most High where no foe can withstand. I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress, my God; on Him will I rely and depend, and in Him will I confidently put my trust.”
Rev. Gwendolyn Sanders is married to Attorney Kenneth Sanders who supports her in ministry.
When I think of the goodness of Jesus and all that He has done for me, my soul cries out Hallelujah! Thank God for saving me!
